Martellus Bennett: “Romo Isn't In The Same League As Eli”

Bennett spent four seasons with Dallas before joining the Giants this offseason

Martellus Bennett has three receiving touchdowns in his first three games with the New York Giants, a franchise record. He had no touchdowns in his last three seasons with the Cowboys, the team that drafted him.

While the change could’ve come as the result any number of factors--a different system, the fact that Bennett isn’t saddled behind a future Hall of Famer in Jason Witten on the depth chart in New York, etc.--Bennett believes that Eli Manning is just a lot better than Tony Romo, this according to a report in the New York Post today.

Romo isn’t in the same league as Eli Manning,” Bennett was overheard telling a waiter at a New York steakhouse this week, via the Dallas Morning News. “Not even close.”

This could be a classic case of sour grapes, but we have little doubt that this is Bennett’s honest opinion because, you know, why would he lie to a waiter? In any case, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a clipping of the article up in the locker room at Valley Ranch in the coming weeks.
