“Lead Dog” Among Running Backs Has Yet to Emerge

Running backs coach Gary Brown isn't sure who will serve as the primary back

The Dallas Cowboys have insisted since the draft, a running back-less draft for Dallas, that they’re content with the stable of running backs in place. That means some combination of Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle with some Lance Dunbar mixed in, but who will take the lead as the primary back remains to be seen.

Then again, that might not be much of a concern for running backs coach Gary Brown, who said recently that regardless of the distribution of carries, he’s confident that the group can get the job done.

"We’re very confident in what we have," Brown said, per the Dallas Morning News. "We got some very good football players. With the addition of Darren it’s going to be a nice group. I can’t say who is going to be the lead dog right now, but those guys are going to compete and we’re going to do what’s necessary to win games.

"I think we have three capable guys who can go out and do what we need to do. I’m not concerned about it at all."
