Kobe Bryant Rips the Cowboys

Los Angeles Lakers’ star Kobe Bryat has a good deal of respect for his fellow MVP candidate, Dirk Nowitzki of your Dallas Mavericks. However, the Philadelphia-raised superstar wasn’t about to have a love-in with Nowitzki, or anything else held in high regard in Dallas for that matter, prior to the team’s meeting at the American Airlines Center on Saturday.

"He's one of the best players in the league, bar none,'' Bryant said, per the Dallas Morning News. "I'm not going to sit here and just kiss his (butt) for 10 seconds. He's a great player.''

Bryant’s words, reined in as they may have been, were about the best he had for any part of the Dallas-Fort Worth professional sports community. Bryant said that he’d be crushed if his hometown Philadelphia Eagles didn’t have a season in 2011, before turning his sights on the Dallas Cowboys, the favorite team of his teammate, Joe Smith.

"I would, yeah, although in Dallas I don't know how much they'd miss it because it's not like they had one anyway,'' he said in reference to the Cowboys 2010 showing. "Isn't that right, Joe? It wouldn't be like you guys would miss a football season here. You didn't have one anyway.''

Smith then pointed out that the Eagles didn’t finish the year hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, either.

"We went to the dance,'' Bryant shot back. "Y'all had people popping champagne in your building. That's not a good look.''
