Monte Kiffin isn’t content with the five turnovers forced by his defense in their debut last Sunday, or the 36-31 win over the Giants. He’s more focused on the 450 yards allowed by Eli Manning, the 31 points surrendered and, we’d imagine, the fact that despite forcing five turnovers, the team only won by five.
“We’ve got to play better,” Kiffin said, per the Dallas Morning News. “We didn’t play as well as we should have. We won the game and hung on. But we need to play better. I think just being in the system and getting to learn what the other guy’s doing and understanding the scheme and things like that. We’ve just got to keep getting better.”
It’s certainly worth hoping that the Dallas defense improves as they get more comfortable in the Tampa 2 system. Granted, it’s a stat gleaned from the smallest sample size possible, but only two teams in the NFL gave up more yards than Dallas in Week One.
