Josh Brent Ready to “Get in There”

Brent hasn't played in almost exactly two years

Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent has been inactive in each of the team’s two games since becoming eligible to return to action, and he’s ready to get back.

When Brent last played--exactly two years ago Thursday, the night he could return--he was an emerging run-stopper, a big man who could clog up running lanes. Dallas could use exactly that it seems, after surrendering 256 yards on the ground in the 33-10 loss to the Eagles on Thanksgiving.

Don’t expect Brent himself to say he’s what the Cowboys defense needs, though.

Of course I want to get in there and help our team in any way, shape or form I can, but we also didn’t get to 8-4 by accident,” Brent said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. “The guys that are in there do a hell of a job from week to week.

“Putting me in there is not going to deter people from running the ball or stop people’s game plan. Like I said, we’ve won eight games with the guys who are in there because they can get the job done. I think obviously, the coaching staff will continue doing what they’ve been doing to have the success we’ve been having.”
