Jones To Present Emmitt At HOF

Dallas owner Jerry Jones has been chosen by former employee and all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith to present him when he is enshrined at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony this August, Smith said on his Twitter page last night.

"Im real honored to have this person intro me cuz hes done so much for me in my career," said Smith.

The owner accepted Smith's request to present the legendary running back yesterday, cementing a return trip to Canton as a presenter for the Dallas Cowboys' owner and general manager. Jones also presented Michael Irvin in 2007.

Smith broached the topic through a series of Tweets, as compiled by Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, finally announcing Jones as his selection at around nine PM on Thursday:

"Been getting lots of questions bout who will present me at the hof this August & I have made my decision...Yall wanna know who it is? Maybe I should keep yall in suspense...  Some of you have guessed right... bingo! I asked Mr Jones & he accepted ..."

Smith will be enshrined on Saturday, August 7, 2010. On Sunday, the Cowboys will open up their 2010 season against Cincinnati in the annual Hall of Fame Game.
