Jones Not Worried About Distribution of Carries Between Murray, Choice

We know that as long as he’s healthy, Felix Jones will get the bulk of the Cowboys’ carries as the feature back. After that, we’re not really sure.

Tashard Choice has played well for the most part, behind Jones and Marion Barber, who departed for Chicago after being cut by Dallas. With Barber gone, Choice could have that expanded role he’s been after all these years. Then again, the team is also high on DeMarco Murray, Dallas’ third round pick out of Oklahoma in April’s draft.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones likes both of these backs, to the point that he’s not really worried about the distribution of carries between them.

"Both of them have outstanding qualities, and I mean outstanding, in the passing game. Murray got here as a good blocker. Now, he doesn't have the experience that Choice has got," Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News. "But I like our combination. Felix [Jones] is a better blocker than he's ever been in his career. It's not going to be an issue at the Choice, Murray level of getting each one the proper number.

"Choice is used to not getting snaps and living to tell about it, handles it well. He's a smart guy and he understands what his role is and what it can be on the next snap, but Murray is, too. That's a good thing about those two. They ought to be able to really get in there and make it work. And Felix got here sharing carries. The last thing I'm worried about is the politics relative to who is getting the ball around here."
