On Wednesday, the NFL Alumni association announced Dallas Cowboys’ running back Felix Jones as the recipient of the 2010 Spirit Award.

The award is given out annually to a player, current or former, who demonstrates “a commitment to youth and community service.” Jones was selected by the committee out of a field of 32 candidates.

From the NFL Alumni Association press release:

“The first round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2008, Jones is being honored for his development of youth mentoring programs including the ‘Felix Jones Sound Mind, Sound Body Football Camps’ and ‘ACT & College Preparatory Program’ in the Tulsa and Dallas areas. He is also being recognized for his involvement with the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee’s ‘Hunger No More’ project.”

Jones will be honored with the award on February 4th at the 29th annual NFL Alumni Player of the Year awards ceremony at Union Station in Dallas.
