Cowboys tight ends coach and passing game coordinator John Garrett is indeed departing Dallas, but not for the destination we’d have guessed.

After six seasons in Dallas, the brother of head coach Jason Garrett was signed to become the wide receivers coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. He had previously applied for the head coaching vacancy at the University of Delaware--the first concrete sign that he was most likely on his way out--but the Blue Hens signed Rutgers offensive coordinator Dave Brock late last week.

Garrett is just the latest of a slew of coaches to leave Dallas since season’s end. Running backs coach Skip Peete, defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis and assistant strength and conditioning coach Walt Williams have all departed North Texas since the team’s offseason begun on December 30.

Garrett’s departure leaves two vacancies on the team’s offensive coaching staff, at running backs coach and, obviously, tight ends coach.
