Jerry: Thanksgiving Day Deserves This Kind of Game

The top spot in the NFC East is up for grabs in Thursday's Cowboys-Eagles game

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones believes Thursday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles may be the biggest Thanksgiving Day matchup in franchise history--or, at least, the biggest he can remember.

We were discussing that earlier and it may be [the biggest] that I can remember,” Jones told the NFL Network on Wednesday, per the Dallas Morning News. “Consequently, we hope that in the spirit of Thanksgiving those Eagles would cut us a little slack. You think they’re interested in doing that? ... I don’t, either.”

The game would be big even if it weren’t happening on Thanksgiving. At 8-3 each, the Eagles and Cowboys are tied for first place in the NFC East going in. It’s the first of two matchups between the teams in the next three weeks, a stretch that will go a long way in deciding the division.

“That’s a good thing because this game on Thanksgiving Day has always deserved in my mind, these kinds of things at stake,” Jones said. “We’re proud to have this game.”
