Jerry Jones Responds to Raiders-to-San Antonio Report

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has always considered the city of San Antonio, Texas, part of the Dallas Cowboys fan base.

"Certainly, San Antonio is a great city and a great sports town," Jones said Tuesday. "I'd like for some of that stuff that's in the drinking water down there, that the Spurs get, to get some of that to the Cowboys."

So, when a report Tuesday revealed that the Oakland Raiders had met with city officials in the Alamo City about possibly relocating from Northern California to San Antonio, you could understand why Jones, speaking to reporters in Oxnard, did not seem thrilled about the idea and would not give a direct comment about the topic.

"I thought it was somebody joking with me when they came out here," Jones said. "So, I don't have any comment other than how valued we feel, and the Cowboys feel, about our fans in San Antonio."

When asked by NBC 5's Newy Scruggs if the state of Texas can handle three NFL teams, Jones had a similar response.

"I haven't even thought about that at all," Jones said. "I'm certainly proud of the fan support we've got in San Antonio, but I really haven't thought about it. This is the first it's crossed my mind."

The Cowboys have hosted training camp in San Antonio six times in franchise history. The Raiders will be in Oxnard to practice against the Cowboys this year on August 12 and 13.
