Jerry: Choice Has Earned More Carries

Tashard Choice finally got his carries last Sunday, and if Jerry Jones holds to his word, he’ll continue to figure heavily in the offense of the Dallas Cowboys.

Choice had 19 carries for 100 yards against Indianapolis, and a touchdown. The score came at the end of an impressive 20-yard run, in which Choice exhibited a burst unseen from Barber in recent memory. As impressive as he was, it’s worth noting that he may not have gotten such a chance had Marion Barber not suffered a strained calf in the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Saints.

Barber has 102 carries on the season for 313 yards and three touchdowns. Choice has just 33 carries--19 of which came in the Indianapolis game last week--for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

β€œThe facts are that he (Choice) has probably stepped up and earned himself a chance to get a lot of carries the rest of the year,” Jones said Thursday in an appearance on 105.3 FM The Fan, per the Dallas Morning News.

Jones added that several teams inquired about Choice before the trade deadline last season.

β€œI'm glad we didn't trade him, and we're not going to,” Jones said.
