Jason Witten Wins 2013 Bart Starr Award

Witten will be honored in New Orleans on February 1

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has been announced by Athletes in Action as the 2013 recipient of the Bart Starr Award, which honors the NFL player who best exemplifies the legendary Packers’ quarterback’s “commitment to family, teammates and the community.”

Witten was one of three finalists, the others being Giants’ defensive end Justin Tuck and Titans’ quarterback Matt Hasselback. He will be honored at the 26th Annual Super Bowl breakfast in New Orleans on the morning of February 1.

In his tenth season with the Cowboys, Witten became the NFL’s Single-Season Leader for receptions by a tight end. His work in the community includes a number of building projects both in Dallas and his home state of Tennessee, and recently founded the Jason Witten SCORE Foundation, through which he does a a number of outreach programs.
