The Dallas Cowboys are likely out of the Jared Allen sweepstakes after signing defensive tackle Henry Melton this week, but we’ll find out for sure this weekend.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Allen has returned home after visiting with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday and will make a decision over the next couple days. Allen visited Dallas on Monday night and Tuesday but, after the team signed Melton, it was reported that the Cowboys would likely cease their pursuit of the longtime Vikings’ defensive end.
“Got to Seattle last night with Jared, [his wife] Amy, and his family,” Allen’s agent Ken Harris told PFT on Thursday. “We had a great time meeting everyone during this visit. After some good discussions with the front office today, Jared and Amy are going to consider the Seahawks offer along with the others, and make a decision this weekend.”
Previously, it was reported that Allen was close to agreeing to terms with the Seahawks but nothing is official as of yet. That said, Seattle still seems the most likely destination for Allen.
