Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers safety and two-time Super Bowl champion Ike Taylor believes Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott could be a Hall of Famer—provided he’s drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and given a chance to run behind their vaunted offensive line.
Not that Taylor, who works as an analyst for the NFL Network these days, isn’t a fan of current Cowboys’ running backs Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris.
"I like [Darren] McFadden. I like Alfred Morris. I figure he's a cool answer. But I got to go with Ezekiel Elliott," Taylor said, via the Dallas Morning News. "I feel like he's the right now. He's the past, the present, and the future. If their offensive line can stay healthy for Dallas, [Elliott is] going to be a Hall of Famer, if this guy can stay healthy.
"I was impressed [at the combine]. One, for his size. Two, if you just roll the tape and see this guy, guys didn't want to hit him. Then when I saw him in person, I was like 'I don't really want to hit this guy either.' This guy is built for speed, he's built to the ground. They like to talk about his hands if he had a weakness. But Dallas, just running behind that big offensive line, it's going to be scary when he gets to that second level."
Elliott made an official pre-draft visit to Valley Ranch earlier this month, and said in February that he’d like to be drafted by Dallas—specifically because of the offensive line Taylor believes could help propel him to Canton.
