Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins sure looks like a meaningless game.
There are no playoff implications, as the Redskins already have the NFC East title locked up, and the Tony Romo-less, 4-11 Cowboys would actually be better served losing. But Redskins head coach Jay Gruden would contend that no Cowboys-Redskins game is truly meaningless, because the two sides hate each other so much.
"If you sign up to coach the Washington Redskins, you automatically have a hatred for the Dallas Cowboys, that's for sure," Gruden said, per the Dallas Morning News. "It's a big time rivalry. There's a lot of respect there but you take this game very seriously because I know our fans do and I know our ownership does and everybody that wears Redskins colors, they really want this football game.
“Whatever the situation, whatever is at stake, it's a big game for a lot of people and we take it very seriously.”
