Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end Randy Gregory posted a sack in each of the first three preseason games of his NFL career, and in the season opener against the Giants, it looked like it would only be a matter of time before he got to Eli Manning.
That didn’t happen, of course. Gregory suffered a high ankle sprain and has been sidelined ever since.
But five weeks later he’s been cleared, will play in the second matchup with the Giants, and is looking to pick up exactly where he left off.
"If I come out a little rusty, that's kind of expected in some ways," Gregory said, per the Dallas Morning News, "but I definitely fully expect to come out there and pick up where I left off."
Gregory, who returned to practice last week, declared himself 100 percent this week--at least from a physical standpoint. But he’s still getting used to playing on the ankle again mentally.
"Physically, yeah. Mentally, I think I'm still trying to get past that point that I can trust it enough to play on it,” Gregory said.
