Goodell: Decision on Hardy Coming “In the Near Future”

Roger Goodell says the NFL is getting closer to wrapping up their review of Greg Hardy's case

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expects the league’s review of Greg Hardy’s case to be wrapped up in the near future, with a decision on what discipline will be handed down to follow shortly thereafter, David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Hardy spent all but one game last season on the Commissioner’s Exempt List as he awaited trial on domestic violence charges. He was found guilty during a bench trial, but he requested a jury trial afterward and the charges were dropped when the accuser didn’t show up to court and couldn’t be reached by prosecutors.

“Any team was free to sign Greg Hardy,” Goodell said. “They understood that we were reviewing his case for potential discipline and that it continues. We are trying to get as many facts as we possibly can and make the most informed decision we can so that we can uphold the standards that we purport in the personal conduct policy.

“So I expect that will conclude sometime in the near future and we’ll make a decision shortly after.”
