Giants DB on Romo: “He Can't Win the Big Game”

Giants' DB Terrell Thomas has some high praise for Tony Romo, but he can't overlook his postseason track record

Like everyone else in the world, New York Giants’ defensive back Terrell Thomas has some thoughts on how Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo will deal with the pressure of his new and unprecedented six-year, $108 million contract extension, signed earlier this offseason.

Thomas appeared on the NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access” recently to share these thoughts, and his remarks were, uh, a mixed bag. First, Thomas doled out shining praise for Romo. Then he hinted the widely held opinion that, according to his track record, Romo is incapable of winning when it matters most.

“$108 million pressure. Tony Romo is a great quarterback,” Thomas said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s proven. The only big thing is he can’t win the big game. He just hasn’t done it yet. He just has one playoff win in his career. Other than, all the statistics he has, I think that’s the next step. I think Jerry Jones did the right thing by backing him up and giving him that role that look, this is your offense. This is your team. I believe in you. Get us to the next level. If he doesn’t then he’s going to feel all that pressure.”
