Garrett on Linehan: “His Track Record Speaks for Itself”

Jason Garrett worked under Scott Linehan in 2005 with the Dolphins

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is thrilled to have Scott Linehan onboard.

This makes sense as, according to Stephen and Jerry Jones, it was Garrett’s decision to hire the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator. The move has been met with widespread skepticism, but Garrett knows Linehan well from 2005 in Miami--where Linehan served as the offensive coordinator and Garrett was the quarterbacks coach--and believes his experience will benefit an offense that has struggled to find an identity of late.

"He’s been one of the really good coordinators in the league for a long time," Garrett said of Linehan, per ESPN Dallas. "He’s got a lot of experience, a lot of exposure doing this at the collegiate level and the NFL level.

“His track record speaks for itself. He’s presided over a lot of really good offenses in this league. He and I worked together in Miami for a year, so I know him and I know him well. Philosophically I feel like we’re very similar in how we approach things. I learned a great deal from him, excited to have him on board."
