Garrett: Zack Martin Was “Just Fantastic”

Martin played through an ankle injury through most of Sunday's win over the Eagles

It wasn’t until after the Cowboys 38-27 victory over the Eagles that we learned that rookie right guard Zack Martin had suffered an ankle injury early on in that game, as Martin played the entire contest--and played well.

Zack was just fantastic,” head coach Jason Garrett told the team’s website. “He hurt that ankle early on in the game and just kept playing and fought through it, really a tough, tough individual, really mature guy. I thought he handled that situation well.”

The Cowboys are optimistic that both Martin and Doug Free, who also suffered an ankle injury on Sunday night, will be able to play against the Colts on Sunday. Free actually had to leave the game, and missed the entire second half, where Martin didn’t miss a beat.

“I twisted it, and we’ll see how it is,” Martin said. “But I just taped it up and got back to it.”
