Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey has only played two seasons in the NFL, but heโs already tied the franchise record for the most game-winning field goals with seven. He has made 61 field goals in 68 attempts (29 for 31 in 2012) and is a perfect 76 of 76 on extra point attempts.
Looking at all this, itโs no surprise that head coach Jason Garrett is full of praise for the Oklahoma State product.
โYou could make a compelling argument that he does his job as well as anybody does theirs on this team,โ Garrett said, per the Dallas Morning News. โHeโs about as reliable a guy as I have been around kicking the football. Heโs about as professional a guy as I have been around. He is an outstanding athlete and he is as cool as they come. We are just lucky to have him.โ
The praise didnโt come out of the blue, really. Garrett had just watched Bailey hit on a 59-yard attempt in a situational drill, one that simulated the sort of pressure situation in which Bailey has shined in the past.
โAs a kicker, you live for those moments,โ Bailey said. โItโs a lot of fun. The more you can recreate the situation the better.โ
