A handful of the Dallas Cowboys will be led onto the field by head coach Jason Garrett this Wednesday, but not the field at Cowboys Stadium and not for anything football related.
These Cowboys will be across the parking lot from JerryWorld, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, for a Home Run Derby benefitting the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Sponsored by Reliant, the energy company will donate $500 for every home run hit. There will also be 11 targets scattered around the field which, if hit, will be worth $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000.
Much like baseball’s Home Run Derby, the last ball in each round will be a “money ball,” and worth twice the value.
Players participating in the event will be Jason Witten, Miles Austin, DeMarco Murray, Dez Bryant, John Phillips, Doug Free, Sean Lee and Kevin Ogletree. These Cowboys, along with Garrett, will take pitches from former Rangers’ starter, Tim Crabtree.
The event will run from 4-6 PM on Wednesday.
