Frederick Trims Beard For Charity

First round pick Travis Frederick ditched his Viking-esque beard Thursday in order to raise funds for tornado victims

Cowboys’ center and first round pick Travis Frederick had plenty of reason to shave the Sasquatch of a beard that made its debut at April’s draft and stayed put through the first session of OTAs well before this week, what with temperatures on the rise in North Texas and all.

But the Texas heat is not the reason Frederick had his whiskers sheared at 3 Stacks Chop and Tap House in Frisco on Thursday. Rather, Frederick got a makeover in front of a number of fans, television cameras and 103.3-FM ESPN Radio’s Ben & Skin in order to drum up donations for those affected by the tornados that recently devastated  Moore, OK and Granbury, TX.

After the event, the Wisconsin product left the restaurant with a much smaller, less unruly beard.

I feel like the same man,” Frederick said, per the Dallas Morning News. “(I’m) just a little bit cooler and maybe a little bit more presentable.”

However, Frederick wouldn’t close the door on his facial hair returning in new and interesting ways in the future.

“We’ll see,” Frederick told reporters.
