Forbes: Cowboys Most Valuable Franchise In NFL

In their annual survey, Forbes Magazine has Dallas as the third most valuable franchise in the world

Not that it comes as much of a surprise, but the Dallas Cowboys are once again the most valuable franchise in the NFL.

In Forbes Magazine’s annual survey of the Top 50 most valuable sporting franchises, Dallas is in a tie with the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball for third place, at an estimated net worth of $1.85 billion. Here’s what the Forbes article had to say about “America’s Team,” via ESPN Dallas:

The Cowboys are the kings of the NFL thanks to their $1.2 billion stadium, which generates more than $100 million annually from premium seating and nearly $60 million from sponsors like AT&T, Bank of America, Ford Motor and PepsiCo.

The only teams to beat out the Cowboys and Yankees in terms of worth come from the world of international soccer, with Manchester United being named the most valuable franchise in the world and Real Madrid coming in second.

In an indicator of just how huge the NFL is these days, all 32 teams in the league made the list. The next most valuable NFL team after Dallas are none other than the Cowboys’ rival to the Northeast, the Washington Redskins, who rank 5th with a net worth of $1.56 billion.
