Folk One PAT Away From Team Record

Nick Folk burst on the scene in 2007, beating out Martin Gramatica for the job in training camp and making everyone in Dallas forget all about that Mike Vandejagt debacle.

Now, entering his third season of his NFL career, the Arizona State product is knocking on the door of Cowboys history.

Folk nailed two field goals in today's win over Tampa Bay, and three extra points. Those three extra points put his consective PAT streak at 99, tying Mike Clark for the longest such streak in Cowboys history; if he nails one next week, he'll tie the all-time leader in franchise history, Danny Villanueva, who kicked for Dallas in the late sixties.

Interstingly, Folk's streak of made field goals, which now stands at fifteen, began against Tampa Bay in October of 2008.

An effective Nick Folk is a welcome sight for fretful Cowboys fans, who saw the kicker miss his first three preseason attempts. Folk had surgery in the offseason to repair a labral tear in his hip, which compounded such concerns. However, if he keeps up his usually impressive pace, those concerns will certainly be short lived.

It's kicker history, people; but it's still history.
