Fantasy Land: Week 16 Remembered

All I have to say is, "Thank you Santa for not allowing Aaron Rodgers to still be alive in my fantasy league championship."

I, like many others this past weekend, was lucky to have won my fantasy league and in a strange turn of events, Aaron Rodgers was no where to be found.

And it's a good thing for me and anyone else who avoided the likely NFL MVP this season.

Rodgers used surgical precision in breaking down the Chicago Bears defense on Sunday night, throwing for 283 yards on 21-of-29 passing with five touchdowns and no interceptions. It was a performance worthy of an MVP, and you were lucky if you avoided and really fortunate if you had it on your side.

As for goats in the biggest weekend of the fantasy football year, you can look at two players in the Dallas-Philadelphia game, and for two different reasons.

Before Tony Romo completed a pass in Saturday's blowout loss against the Eagles in a game that ended up being meaningless, he hit his throwing hand on the helmet of an Eagles defender and suffered a nasty contusion. His final line? 0-for-2, zero yards for a big fat zero points. That probably ruined some folks' weekend.

Then there's LeSean McCoy, who has been one of the best running backs in the NFL this season and absolutely shredded the Cowboys defense in Week 8 to the tune of nearly 200 rushing yards. But Saturday was a much different outcome for McCoy owners, as he finished the game with just 35 yards on 13 carries before having to leave with a mild ankle sprain.
