Fantasy Land: Week 15 Remembered

I always try to avoid making this weekly feature personal, but this week was too good to pass up.

Playing in the second round of the playoffs in my fairly intense, compeitive league, I was playing someone with that guy Drew Brees as one of his quarterbacks (yes, we start two quarterbacks).

Brees, as many of you know, went on to throw for more than 400 yards and five touchdowns in a noon game on Sunday. I was sure I was doomed and would have to settle with the nice chunk of change that comes with winning your division in said league. I had come to grips with it, and was OK with my fate.

Then came Matthew Stafford. I owe Stafford a hearty "thank you" after the Highland Park native threw for 391 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions in his team's dramatic win over the Raiders. It basically canceled out Brees' insane day and led me to a win and a berth in next week's Super Bowl with some serious cheese on the line.

It is for that performance that I give my honorary hero of the week designation to Stafford. Thank you, kind sir.

As for goats of the week, the top one has to be Eli Manning, who happened to be my opponent's other starting quarterback on Sunday. And thank fantasy god for that.

Manning threw for 257 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in his team's loss to the Washington Redskins. It was just another in a long line of dumpster games Manning has turned in every now and then between many stellar ones.
