Fantasy Land: Studs and Duds, Week 9

A two-time champion in a hardcore keeper league, including some know-it-all media "experts", who just so happens to be 0-8 in said league this year, Adam Boedeker gives his fantasy expertise on a weekly basis.

Stud of the Week

Matthew Stafford, QB, DET — As we discussed on Tuesday, Stafford finally showed fantasy owners why they took him high in drafts this summer and expected him to be an elite-level quarterback. On Sunday, he was just that. This weekend, he has a great chance to do it again against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars, who have made a habit out of allowing multiple touchdown passes to opposing quarterbacks this year. Look for Stafford to throw the ball a lot, especially with the fact that the Lions' running back situation seems to be quite a mess right now.

Honorable mention: Michael Vick, PHI (at NO); Cam Newton, CAR (at WAS); Steve Smith, CAR (at WAS); Rashad Jennings, JAC (vs. DET).

Dud of the Week

Chris Johnson, RB, TEN — The Titans running back appears to have resurfaced after his awful, dreadful start to the season. He now has at least 90 yards in four of his past five games, including his explosive 195-yard, two-touchdown performance against Buffalo. But now, he must go up against a Bears defense that's relentless against the run. In fact, Chicago has allowed one running back to eclipse 100 yards this year, and one running back to score a touchdown. As Darth Vadar would say, "Impressive."

Honorable mention: Andy Dalton, CIN (vs. DEN); Hakeem Nicks, NYG (vs. PIT); Pierre Thomas, NO (vs. PHI); Tony Romo, DAL (at ATL).
