Fans Should Hope for Garrett's Failure

With eight games remaining on the schedule, and the offensive coordinator formerly known as the next Bill Walsh is about to take over as head coach for your Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys are clearly not going to make the playoffs, so what should Cowboys fans hope for? Abject failure.

First of all, Sunday's game was borderline comical. Why not give us something more to laugh at?

Secondly, and more seriously, if the Cowboys turn things around and win, say, five games to close the season, that's clear proof the players simply quit on the season somewhere around that Tennessee loss that was blown by that "celebration" penalty.

Multi-millionaires up and quitting? That doesn't sit too well with me, and it shouldn't with any Cowboys fans.

Third, do you really want Jason Garrett as the next head coach of this football team? Maybe he will prove to be a good coach, but I think the best thing for him and for the franchise is the proverbial "change of scenery". Now, if he lights a fire under this team and they reel off five wins with a couple of close losses against a murderer's row of a schedule, I might change my tune. But Cowboys fans should hope Jerry can talk Bill Cowher into coming to Dallas.

And finally, with the season lost, the Cowboys are a pretty viable candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft.

Can you say Andrew Luck?
