Ex-Cowboy Martellus Bennett Lands with Patriots

The Patriots will be Bennett's third team since leaving Dallas

Former Cowboys tight end Marcellus Bennett has landed with the New England Patriots.

On Thursday, New England acquired Bennett and a 2016 sixth round pick from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2016 fourth round pick. With the Pats, Bennett and Rob Gronkowski figure to comprise one of the most physically imposing tandem of tight ends ever.

"I think Gronk has always been an awesome tight end and I look forward to learning more from him," Bennett said on a conference call Friday, per Mike Reiss of ESPN. "There are some things that he does that I don't do, and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of things that I do that he doesn't do. So it will be a good challenge to push each other and continue to help us grow as individual players as well as a tandem, to do whatever we can to help the team."

Bennett was drafted out of Texas A&M in the second round of the 2008 Draft, and in his four seasons with the Cowboys, posted 85 catches for 846 yards and four touchdowns.
