Emmitt Making The Network Rounds

If you enjoy network television, genealogy and/or former Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, this is the week for you.

Smith will be the featured celebrity on the second episode of "Who Do You Think You Are?" an Americanized version of the BBC hit, which chronicles the family trees of celebrities, on Friday. In order to promote his television appearance, Smith is making a television appearance, today on Oprah.

"Some know Emmitt Smith as the National Football League's all-time leading rusher. Others recognize him as a three-time Super Bowl champion or a Dancing with the Stars winner. But do you really know who Emmitt is?" asks Oprah's website.

According to the website, Smith will discuss the process of genealogical research which culminated in the former Cowboy tracing his roots in the United States back to slavery. "I feel like a detective on a hunt trying to find clues," Smith says, per the website

.Also featured on today's episode will be Dr. Henry Louis Gates--one third of the 'beer summit,' Harvard professor, and host of PBS's Faces of America--and fellow WDYTYA celebrities Lisa Kudrow and Brooke Shields. Will today's Oprah be as exciting as an NFL football game? Only time will tell.

Okay, maybe not. But it's March and, unless you have the NFL Network, your options for football-related entertainment are limited.

The somewhat contentiously-titled Who Do You Think You Are? airs on NBC5, Friday night at 7 PM, local time.
