Eminem: Rapper, Frustrated Cowboys Fan, Romo Supporter

Eminem discussed the pitfalls of liking the Cowboys in a recent interview with GQ

Rapper Eminem is apparently a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and he, like the rest of us, is pretty frustrated with his team. (See?! Rappers aren’t so different from us, after all!)

You see, when Eminem was growing up, his hometown Lions were awful while the Cowboys were awesome. Now, the Lions are pretty good, while Dallas struggles for playoff berths, but Em still has some allegiance to his adopted team--and, he admitted in a recent interview with GQ, he believes that Tony Romo is capable of leading the team to a Super Bowl.

“I hate to sound (expletive) cliché, but I truly believe that Romo gives them the best chance to win,” he says, via the Dallas Morning News. “It’s very frustrating to watch them week in, and week out. They blew all those fourth quarter leads this year. Man, it’s hard to be a football fan. You get invested in your teams and it literally can ruin your entire (expletive) week. And just for the record — I am a Lions fan first and foremost. But growing up as a kid, the Lions were so bad for so long, that I picked up another team in the Cowboys.”

You can see more highlights of the interview, including Em’s thoughts on Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones, Tom Landry’s famed fedora hat and whether a rhyme about Tim Tebow could be in the works, here.
