Dustin Vaughan Thinks He Did Enough to Earn Roster Spot

Vaughan ended a sometimes rocky preseason on a high note on Thursday night

It was an ugly preseason at times for third string quarterback Dustin Vaughan, but after starting (and then finishing) the team’s 21-14 preseason finale win over the Texans on Thursday night, he believes he did enough to earn a spot on the roster.

“I think so,” Vaughan said, per the Dallas Morning News. “There’s a lot of guys in this room that think that they showed enough. The fact of the matter and the brutal reality of the NFL is it’s out of our control now. You hoped you showed enough, and yes, I think I did.

On Thursday, Vaughan finished 11 of 20 passing for 115 yards, and was 2-2 on the game-winning drive.

“He’s been a little bit inconsistent and that’s one of the things we wanted to see him try to get over that hump,” quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said. “He was kind of up and down tonight, but he made some nice plays on third down and that last drive was real good.”
