Scratch Tony Dungy from the list of potential candidates for the head coach in Dallas.
Dungy basically told Dan Patrick, on the Dan Patrick Show Friday that, if the Dallas Cowboys were looking in his direction in hopes of filling what will almost certainly be an empty head coaching position come this offseason, don’t; because he is not interested. And if Jerry Jones feels a slight sting, it’s that of preemptive rejection.
"I kind of expect to be contacted by everyone who has an opening," Dungy said, per Sports Illustrated. "I'm not interested. But you never know what's going to happen or who's going to call."
If it’s any consolation to the Joneses, Dungy said that he doesn’t think the gig is a bad one, and even offered some advice as to who he believes the team should bring in to stem this tide of overwhelming terribleness.
"[Jones] needs a Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden or Mike Holmgren," Dungy said. "Those are the kind of guys he needs. All three of those guys would be pretty good right now."
