DeMarcu Ware Muddling Through Sack Drought

Ware has just 2.5 sacks over his past nine games

We’re only a game into the 2013 season, but DeMarcus Ware is in the middle of a highly uncharacteristic sack drought. He has just 2.5 in the past nine games, and despite getting close a few times, was shut out in the season opener.

In response, defensive line coach Rod Marinelli taped a cigar to Ware’s locker on Monday, with a note that said, “Close but no cigar.” It was signed, “Your loving coach.”

Ware’s new goal? To get the cigar taken down.

"It feels different not having a sack, but I had 10 [actually six] pressures last game," Ware said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I hit him probably about four times if you really want to talk about that. With me, it’s all about getting even more pressure, getting there a little bit faster. We got there, but me consistently, I've got to get there a little bit better.”
