DeMarco Murray Still Motivated by 2011 Draft

Murray was the sixth running back selected in the 2011 NFL Draft

Going into his fourth season, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray hasn’t forgotten about the five running backs selected ahead of him in the 2011 NFL Draft.

But the memories of being passed over that April only account for a portion of what drives Murray. Coming off his first 1,000-yard season and his first Pro Bowl berth, the Oklahoma product is a classic self-starter. He wants to be the best he can be and, having seen three 8-8 finishes in three years with Dallas, he wants to win.

“It’s always motivation, whether it’s them or just individually, you always want to continue to get better and just strive to be the best you can be, and help your team win,” Murray told ProFootballTalk.com’s Mike Florio. “So there’s always motivation, whether it’s stemming from that or stemming from your own personal goals and things that you embark on.

“That really doesn’t play too much of a factor but just to continue to try to be the best player I can be, the best running back I can be always factors into that.”
