Dan Connor To Visit Dallas This Week

The Panthers' free agent linebacker will enter his fifth season in the NFL in 2012

A possible answer to the inside linebacker spot opposite Sean Lee, Carolina Panthers’ free agent linebacker Dan Connor is visiting Valley Ranch this week, a source in contact with ESPN Dallas said Monday.

Lee emerged to lead the team in tackles and interceptions last season while playing opposite Keith Brooking and Bradie James, a pair of veterans who saw their playing time decrease dramatically in 2011. Brooking’s future with the team is unclear, and though they drafted ILB Bruce Carter out of UNC in the second round of last year, he is basically entering a second rookie season--since injuries kept him out for most of the first.

Which is to say Connor--who like Lee, is a Penn State product--could be a nice get for the Dallas defense. Connor notched 87 tackles and a forced fumble over 15 games last season, and is entering his fifth season in the league.
