Dan Bailey Credits Long-Snapper L.P. Ladouceur

L.P. Ladouceur has been handling the Cowboys' long-snapping duties for nine years now

Entering his fourth year in the league, Dan Bailey is the best Dallas Cowboys kicker in recent memory, and he says a good deal of credit should go to longtime long-snapper L.P. Ladouceur--an unsung hero on the roster for the past nine seasons.

“LP, he does a third of my job, it all starts with him and he’s been doing it for a long time. I’m real lucky to have him,” Bailey said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I put him up there with some of the best in the league and I have a lot of respect for what he does. He makes my job easier.”

With Ladouceur delivering the ball to the holder (punter Chris Jones) in the past three years, Bailey has made 90.5 percent of field goal attempts. In the past two years, he’s made better than 93 percent of attempts and he has never missed an extra point.

“It’s a tremendous battery that has to be in sync all the time,” special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia said. “The expectation is it’s going to be right all the time, but they have to have a tremendous amount of respect for one another by the way they prepare and by way in which they work, and when there’s usually something a little off, it’s not a problem, because someone’s going to fix it.”
