Dan Bailey Breaks Franchise Record

Bailey has now made 28 consecutive field goals, a new franchise record

With a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter, Dan Bailey tied Chris Boniol’s franchise record for consecutive field goals made with 27. In the third quarter, he hit a 40-yarder to gain sole possession of the record with 28 in a row.

Bailey said after the win that the accomplishment hasn’t really sunk in just yet.

“It’s one of those things where it’ll probably mean a little later in my career or when my career’s over, because right now, especially with a game like today, all you can do is just be happy you won,” Bailey told the team’s website. “But yeah, obviously any time you can string some kicks together, some successful kicks together, it’s always a positive. It’s always a little bit of a confidence builder for you.”

Bailey is a perfect seven for seven on field goals in 2014 and, since joining the Cowboys in 2011, he’s 96 for 105 for a 91.4 percent career success rate.

“We pay him a lot of money to do that, and he steps up and does it,” said owner and general manager Jerry Jones. “The man’s got ice water in his veins. He’s a hell of a kicker. And by the way, congrats to him, too. If anyone’s going to do it, it doesn’t surprise me that it’s him.”
