Dallas Looks at Three QBs, Five WRs

Dallas has a roster spot open after the release of FB Lawrence Vickers last week

With a roster spot left vacant by the release of fullback Lawrence Vickers last week, the Dallas Cowboys took a pre-camp gander at five players on Tuesday--three quarterbacks and five wide receivers--the team’s official website reports.

Quarterbacks Kyle Padron (Eastern Washington, SMU), Chase Clement (Rice) and Alex Tanney (Monmouth, Ill.) joined receivers DeWayne Peace (Houston), Lavasier Tuinei (Oregon), Gino Crump (Arizona), Devin Goda (Slippery Rock) and Antoine Hicks (TCU).

Not too long ago, Clement went to camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. Tanney went through camp with the Kansas City Chiefs last year and Tuinei was a member of the Bengals’ practice squad.

Hicks was actually invited to the Cowboys’ rookie mini-camp this year, and Dallas reportedly had some interest in Peace prior to last week’s supplemental draft, but ended up not putting in a bid.

Dallas could add a quarterback for training camp, but they’ll most likely open the season with Tony Romo and Kyle Orton as the only two quarterbacks on the active roster.
