Cowboys VP: Gregory Ahead of Schedule, Could Return After the Bye

Randy Gregory has been out since the opener with a high ankle sprain

Injuries have been the talk of the Cowboys season thus far, for obvious reasons, but the team got some good news on the health front this week: rookie defensive end Randy Gregory is getting closer to returning from the high ankle sprain that’s had him sidelined since the season opener.

He’s not going to be ready for the Saints or anything, but in an appearance on 105.3-FM The Fan recently, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones described Gregory as being (probably) ahead of schedule in his rehab, and possibly just a couple of games away from being back on the field.

He’s probably maybe even a little bit ahead (of schedule),” Jones said, via the team’s official website. “It’s probably unlikely that he makes it before the bye but I think very likely that he makes it after the bye.”

For those without a pocket schedule handy, this means Gregory will miss this week’s matchup with the Saints and the next week’s with the Patriots, but could return for the October 25 matchup with the Giants in East Rutherford.
