Cowboys Trying Not To Look Ahead

Dallas is 6-6 on the year and facing a tough final stretch of schedule

We’d imagine it’s pretty hard for the Cowboys to avoid looking ahead on the schedule as, in all likelihood at 6-6, they’ll have to run the table over their final four games in order to earn a playoff berth. But according to team leader and defensive end Marcus Spears, they don’t have much of a choice but to, as the old cliche goes, take it one game at a time.

"I think, yeah, it's prevalent. But it's about how you approach it,” Spears said, per ESPN Dallas. “Obviously we know what we need to do. Sometimes (it) puts you in a situation where you feel like you got too much on you.

“You look at the week ahead and you deal with that one and try to win that one and put it to bed and move on to the next one. I think if we start thinking about the postseason and if we start thinking, 'What if this happened? What if that happened?' It kind of takes focus away from what you're trying to do as a team.”

Spears added: “I'm pretty sure Ali was thinking about Foreman before thinking about the next one.”

Dallas is currently a game behind the NFC East-leading Giants, with the Bengals, Steelers, Saints and Redskins remaining on the schedule.
