Cowboys Top-Ranked Sports Franchise in U.S.

For the fifth straight year, the Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable NFL franchise, according to Forbes.

Forbes says Jerral Jones' Dallas Cowboys are worth $1.85 billion.

Who is Jerral Jones?

Anyhow, the value of America's Team is so high that they are not only tops in the NFL, but tops in the U.S. for any sports league.  Coming in second are the New York Yankees at $1.7 billion.  On a global scale, the Cowboys are only bested by Manchester United -- who at a value of $1.86 billion may not hold that No. 1 ranking in 2012.

The Cowboys are up 2 percent over last year and Forbes reports that the Cowboys earned $119 million in operating income last season -- the most in the NFL for a second straight year.

Not coincidentally those are the first two years in their new $1.2 billion Arlington home.

Rounding out the Top 5 behind the Cowboys are the Redskins, Patriots, Giants and Jets.

The Eagles are ranked No. 7, so let's hear it for a very strong showing by NFC East teams.

We here at the Blue Star Blog would be more than happy to see these rankings reflected in the NFC East standings at the end of this season.
