Cowboys To Add DT Toby Jackson

Dallas currently has five defensive linemen out due to injury

Aching for depth along the defensive line, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to sign defensive end Toby Jackson in the coming day or so, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Jackson is a product of the University of Central Florida and, before that, Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, TX. He was forced to sit out of the 2012 season at UCF due to academic reasons but played in nine games the year before (including two starts), recording three tackles for a loss and a blocked punt.

After working out for Dallas in Oxnard, CA on Tuesday, Jackson said he was “humbled and blessed” by the opportunity to play for the Cowboys.

As of Wednesday, the Cowboys have five defensive linemen dealing with injuries: tackle Jay Ratliff (hamstring/groin), and ends Anthony Spencer (knee surgery), Cameron Sheffield (groin), Ike Igbinosun (ankle) and Tyrone Crawford, who will miss the season with an Achilles tear.
