DeAndre Jordan, meet Patrick Robinson?
Perhaps it isn’t the magnitude of the NBA All-Star center infamously leaving the Mavericks at the altar last summer, but the free-agent cornerback has likewise pulled an about-face that is leaving our local team in a pickle.
After agreeing in principle on a contract with the Cowboys earlier this week, Robinson abruptly switched agents and, ultimately, switched teams, signing Wednesday with the Indianapolis Colts.
Ouch.
“(Dallas) was just another visit, and I don't want to get too far into details about that situation,” Robinson told reporters in Indianapolis. “That’s the past, and I’m a Colt right now. That’s all that matters right now.”
The Cowboys, thinking they had a starting cornerback and leverage to pressure Brandon Carr into taking a pay cut, must now scramble to Plan B or else address the need in the draft.
Robinson refused to go into the details of changing his mind, but his sentiments toward the Colts seem to speak volumes. He lunched with Colts’ head coach Chuck Pagano Tuesday at the NFL owners’ meetings in Florida.

“To be honest, I was sold halfway through the conversation," Robinson said. "I already knew that I wanted to be a Colt. Sometimes you get that feeling that the guy that you're talking to, he's telling the truth.”
Whether it was a “feeling” or money or whatever, Robinson’s change in game plan represents a significant swing-and-miss for the Cowboys.
