Cowboys Sign S Brodney Pool

Head coach Jason Garrett confirmed the signing on Thursday

Head coach Jason Garrett said Thursday, per the Dallas Morning News, that the Cowboys have signed free agent safety Brodney Pool.

It was reported on Wednesday--the same day the team brought CB Brandon Carr into the fold with a five-year, $50.1 million deal--that Pool was visiting the team at Valley Ranch. Pool hails from Corpus Christi, went to high school in Houston and played his college ball at Oklahoma.

Drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 2005 draft, Pool spent five seasons in Cleveland--including one, 2009, under Cowboys’ defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. In that season, Pool brought down a career-high four interceptions. He has been with the Jets, and Rob’s twin brother Rex, for the past two seasons. In 2011, he recorded 36 tackles, an interception and three pass deflections.
