Cowboys Sign 2nd Round Pick Randy Gregory

Gregory was one of the most talked-about picks of the 2015 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys have signed second round pick Randy Gregory to his rookie contract.

Gregory was selected in the second round, the 60th pick overall, to a chorus of cheers from the Cowboys’ draft room. The cheers were motivated by the fact that at 60, Gregory has the potential to be a major steal. He was widely regarded as perhaps a high first rounder before he failed a drug test at the Combine and tumbled down draft boards as a result.

But the Cowboys believed all along that they could put an effective support system in place to keep Gregory on the straight and narrow and were confident enough in him to give him No. 94--previously worn by soon-to-be Hall of Famer Charles Haley and probable future Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware.

The exact terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed, but because of the rookie wage scale, it’ll be somewhere around the four-year, $3.5 million deal (with $1.25 million guaranteed) that Missouri’s Kony Ealy got when he went to the Carolina Panthers 60th overall last year.
