Cowboys Showing Interest in DE Robert Ayers?

Ayers spent his first five seasons with the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos signed a longtime Cowboys defensive end on Wednesday when they agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with DeMarcus Ware, and it looks like the Cowboys might try to return the favor.

According to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas, the Cowboys are interested in Broncos’ defensive end Robert Ayers.

Ayers was selected 18th overall out of Tennessee back in 2009, he’s recorded 142 tackles and 12 sacks in five seasons with Denver. He has also posted eight pass deflections and three forced fumbles in that span.

After losing Ware in free agency, the Cowboys have turned their attention to filling the seven-time Pro Bowler’s shoes with a committee of more modestly-priced free agents. On Wednesday, they agreed to terms with former Jaguars and Broncos defensive end Jeremy Mincey as well as former Texans defensive tackle Terrell McClain.
