Cowboys Send Coleman to IR, Promote Local Product Ben Bass to Active Roster

Kenyon Coleman suffered torn triceps in the win over Philly last Sunday

The Dallas Cowboys will officially lose one defensive lineman and pick up another in the coming day or so.

The team is planning on sending defensive end Kenyon Coleman to the injured reserve this week after it was revealed that he suffered torn triceps in Sundayโ€™s victory over the Eagles in Philadelphia; the injury required season-ending surgery, which Coleman reportedly underwent on Tuesday.

The Cowboys will fill the roster spot left by Coleman with practice squadder Ben Bass, a defensive lineman who gained some local notoriety in high school, here in North Texas at Plano West, before moving on to a successful career at Texas A&M University. It is unclear at this point what role Bass will play in Rob Ryanโ€™s defense.

The void in the lineup left by Coleman will be filled primarily by veteran Marcus Spears. Sean Lissemore and Tyrone Crawford will help out as well, and, at the very least, Bass will provide some depth along the defensive front.
